Yep, it looks good for sure, but I think the very simple look of the old one was a little better (in my opinion). There's something about the look of this one that reminds me a bit of the Mandrake/Mandriva logo:

Perhaps it's the curves along with the star.

That one's been posted on the main logos page (http://www.archlinux.org/logos.php) for a long time now...can't say that I like it better than the original. I'm with ozar and think that the simplicity and consistency with the other Arch sites makes the other logo a better choice.

I agree that all sites should use the same logo for consistency. Maybe there are plans to revamp the other sites... Who knows?

Yeah, the new logo looks like it would have gone better with the old forum buttons, whereas the old logo goes much better with the newly created forum buttons.

At least that's the way I see it... :idea:

It just doesn't look right. It makes Arch seem like a "friendly" distro, when really Arch is responsible for 17 murders in 6 countries. It's true!

How strange... I'm reading along, thinking I'm losing my mind (which might still be true) but can't see any difference. I had to:
* Right-click the image
* Select "View image" -- still no change
* On a whim, click re-load page (a page with *just* the image)

Only then could I see what you all were talking about (star above the 'i', etc.).

[Edit] Now that I've had time to absorb... I'd vote for the old one. The new one is a little bit cheesy (i.e. star above the 'i', especieally). Oh, well.

The new logo hasn't shown up for me until today either. I have to agree that the old one was better. Removing the star above the i in linux would make it look much better. Maybe I am too picky and have been spending way too much time here. I am starting to turn into one of the "don't change anything, I like Arch the way it is" types who I use to make fun of.

I'm not sure if the members really have any say in the Arch logo that is to be used but if so, perhaps a poll would be a good idea.

If we are going to be keeping the new logo, it would be nice to have buttons that actually went with it. Too bad the new buttons were created to match the old logo.

Now I'm also seeing stars. I concur with the apparent majority here: the star just looks somehow out of place.
