Thanks to the nov iissue of Linux Format a nice tip......

in your nvidia section of xord.conf

add Option Coolbits "1"

this will gice you access to the overclocking facilities you have with M$

simply restart x the run nvidia-settings

raised my fps on a 5200 fx from 1200 to 2600

nexuis now far nicer...
Apologies to those who may already know, but seen a few posts lately stating it slow so figures its best to share

jellywerker, add it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf, the nvidia driver section.
