SUID Auditing

Hi all - does anyone here do a SUID audit as a typical part of locking down their box after install (using any distro) ? - for example, you might typicaly only install what you need, use good passwords, run in an "unpriviledged" account, use a Firewall, keep your system updated etc........ but, does anyone think you should do a SUID audit (ie remove any unecesary SUID bits from certain programs) as part of this process, or is it overkill or unnecesary?

So, what does everyone think - useful, good practice, or maybe not so useful, overkill etc?
