links-2 md5sum no good?

I'm trying to install a custom links through pacman. I'm not able to because the md5sum is no good.

I simply copied someone elses PKGBUILD from the forums in order to get a links package with graphics enabled.

The md5sum didn't pass the check when I tried to makepkg and so after double checking I went ahead and installed abs, copied the package that it provided, and tried to makepkg build. Once again the md5sum didn't pass the check and now I'm not sure what to do.

visiting the links server I could not find an md5sum there either.

could anyone give me a solution or an alternative?

I hope that when links-2pre18 is added, graphics are enabled.

Read the makepkg man page, and look for the -g option. That's what you need to generate the correct md5sum.

or you can just comment the md5sum out, if it's just for your own need

Or you can fetch the source manually, creta a new checksum, and change the number in PKGBUILD - in most cases the PKGBUILD is outdated, and a nwe version is fetched. This happens if the download string does not include $pkgver, for example, so a newer source is fetched, as the source is still under progress. Happened using the limewire PKGBUILD from aur, as limewire does not include version numbers inside the sources name. So the maintainer is not to blame, he or she has no offer to check for $pkgver..

Re: links-2 md5sum no good?

Thanks Tonk and Moo, I ended up having to use information that both of you gave me in order to get the job done finally. I won't be so lazy with the man pages in the future...

MKPKG is still running right now, but soon I'll have links showing imagees from a console!

***edit
grrr, I hate that annoying mouse that links has in graphic mode!
