Hi,
I have converted to udev successfully. and have kernel 2.6.12 running.
I have recently installed kernel 2.6.13-archck5 from community to enable hibernate on my thinkpad.
However, after this hotplug takes forever to start.
I had disabled hotplug in rc.conf and was able to boot.
However without hotplug I cannot Start most of my hardware and get Unknown symbol for most of them.
Please suggest a way out.
Regards,
Abhay

You can use hwd instead of hotplug. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Rep … with_LSHWD

If it is unknown symbol with snd modules then this is a know issue and easily used y usingthe handy forum search function [search]unknown AND module AND snd[/search]

If it occurs after every kernel upgrade, why not include a msg in kernel pkg post_instal() that alsa needs to be reinstalled and alsaconf need to need to be rerun?
Because it doesn't occur after every upgrade? This has happened a lot with this particular kernel unfortunately. Running alsaconf fixes the problem, it's not a huge deal. Besides, the solution is truely all over the forums now!

Hi,
I tried hwd instead of hotplug, it tries to detect my hardware but my network never starts. I tried getting a list of all modules loaded by 2.6.12 and manually loading them on kernel26archck-2.6.13.archck5-1, still could not bring up my network ( both dhcp and manual ifconfig does not work).
Looks like 2.6.13 is justified to be in testing.
But all I wanted was suspend2 to work, I tried 2.6.12-cko2 and hibernate works like a charm, though I had to use hibernate-script-1.10 ( not present in arch repositories, not even AUR,TUR).
Now I am back to being a happy arch user, with my system configured to almost all my requirements.
