Light -- A program to easily change backlight brightness

EDIT: This program has been completely rewritten, and has more complete functionality with less hassle: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=183850

Light is the successor of lightscript -- and also its official C-port. It is available on the AUR.

It is proven to work where everything else fails, more common with apple-hardware for some reason.

This version have more features and benefits than lightscript had, and a completely different commandline.

Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks

Re: Light -- A program to easily change backlight brightness

Thanks, I am trying it out.  Seems convenient so far on my ThinkPad.

Btw, '-p' sucks.  I know that is states that it has the "(Not precise)" disclaimer, but my backlight is currently aroun 15%, and its output is '1091'. There is not precise, and then there is rediculous... this is the latter.  Otherwise, seems to work fine.  In fact, '-c' seems much more accurate than '-p'.

-p does not suck! Let me explain:

The controllers have brightnessvalues ranging from 0 to its max brightness (mine is 4882). 1091 is as precise as it can possibly get. It is supposed to work with -m (max brightness). -c simply gives an unprecise percentage value (since it has to round away the decimals).

Glad to hear it works for you! If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask!

Re: Light -- A program to easily change backlight brightness

Oh wait, sorry, my dyslexia get the best of me.  I had seen -p as the percent and -c as the "direct from controller".

I kind of think it should be the way mentioned above.  I assume that you did -c for current and -p for precise.  But I think it might make more sense to have the -p as "percent" and -c as "controller".  I don't know, it makes mroe sense in my head.... though this is coming from the person who just told you something sucked beause I couldn't read gooder.

The -p -c thingie you mentioned makes way more sense than what I currently have, and it is still early enough to change it. I will push it on the next version!
