Different options on Kmix for different user on same machine

I have two different users with exactly same groups

$ groups userA
network video audio storage users sudo

$ groups userB
network video audio storage users sudo

In kmix, when I try to change volume or click on Audio Setup, one user gets a full list of options and the other gets only limited options.

Any idea why this happens?

perhaps kmix with "limited options" running pulseaudio backend?
