[Solved]Problems upgrading from Linux 3.6.6-1 to 3.6.7-1

Hi I see to be having trouble upgrading to Linux 3.6.7-1 from Linux 3.6.6-1 (x86_64).

After rebooting after performing the upgrade things seem broken...

If I run uname I still seem to be running 3.6.6-1 even though I've upgraded which is weird

$ uname -a
Linux dan-mainbox 3.6.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Nov 5 11:57:22 CET 2012 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I think as a consequence of this many other things are broken. For example the "radeon" module which I need to run Xorg isn't loaded and can't be loaded.

$ modprobe -v radeon
#Doesn't tell me anything for some reason
$ modinfo radeon
modinfo: ERROR: Module radeon not found.

Does anyone have any ideas what has gone wrong? For the moment I've downgraded to 3.6.6-1 so that I have a use-able system.

Sounds like you didn't have /boot mounted when you did the upgrade.

Thanks for the suggestion. /boot was mounted when I did the upgrade so that's not the problem but your suggestion has allowed me to find the problem.

My /boot partition is actually built on a software RAID-1 (mirror) but recently one of the two drives failed so I've marked it as "failed" but have not physically removed the drive. GRUB is installed in the MBR of both drives so that if one of the drives fails I can still boot. I completely forgot about this. I investigated and found that my BIOS was booting from the "failed" drive which had the old kernel image on it but once my root partition had been mounted everything else broke because the kernel modules on my root partition are not for 3.6.6-1.

I upgraded to 3.6.7-1 and set my BIOS to boot from the other drive and everything is working fine now.

Thanks for the help!
