I just updated my pc and I noticed that amarok 2.6.0-3 requires mesa while 2.6.0-1 don't. I wonder why it is so, I use catalyst video driver so I don't need mesa for video. It is a bit odd that I have to install a 3D library just to listen to music, isn't it?

I'd open a feature request if you want this to change. Mesa is used by the spectrum analyzer, but it might be possible to make it an optdepend (if amark behaves nicely when mesa is not installed, rather than crashing). if you could try amarok without libgl installed, and verify that the spectrum analyzer fails gracefully it is more likely that the package will be changed quickly.

Thanks Tom, I was just wandering why the dependency and you answered my question. I uninstalled mesa with pacman -Rdd then fired up amarok which worked flawlessly. I'll open a feature request.
