ETPS/2 Elantech ETF1059 Click-Pad loses synchronization

"psmouse.c: ETF1059 Click-Pad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 5 bytes away."

I have a Samsung RF511 notebook with a Elantech touchpad. Using the default psmouse.ko the touchpad is detected but I have this synchronization issue. My mouse and keyboard are both using the i8042 controller, but the kernel command "i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset" did not fix the issue.

Loading the psmouse kernel using the imps protocol (proto=imps) fix the synchronization issue, but with imps the touchpad is detected as a generic mouse thus I do not have multitouch (I can not live without vertical two fingers scrolling).

I have already read a lot about this issue on the Internet and tried a lot of suggestions, none seemed to work. Is there anything else I should try?

I have exactly the same problem with a rf511. Have you found any solution?

Same notebook and same problem here, but no solution.

Additionally I get these messages on boot every once in a while:

psmouse serio1: elantech: synaptics_send_cmd query 0x01 failed.
psmouse serio1: elantech: failed to query firmware version.

This leads to synclient not recognising my touchpad.

Sorry to bump a thread, but I've been searching for a solution for this as well. Just got myself a new Samsung 9 series with this touchpad.

Has anyone found a solution?
