[How-To] Enable gtk widgets in openoffice2

I came across from Gentoo and couldn't get the openoffice beta to use gtk widgets. I copied over the wrapper script (that they had apparently copied over from Mandrake) and changed the path to match Arch's install location. Save it, run it with the --widget-set flag:

oowriter2 --widgets-set gtk

I assume replacing gtk with qt works, but I don't have qt installed so I couldn't tell you for certain. Anyway, looks like this:

and the wrapper script:

Good work !!
But without using your script, you can

echo "export OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=gnome" >> ~/.bashrc

done !  wink

Cool! Thanks for the tip. That's a little easier.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I can't get it to work. You see, there is no "oowriter2" executable, only "soffice" in /usr/bin, and that gives me the error "/home/proteus/gtk does not exist."

Try kasa's suggestion - that's what I've been doing since I upgraded, and it's working fine. Actually, I put it in /etc/profile, but the effect is the same.

Oh, you have to relogin before it takes effect right?

Or just

source ~/.bashrc

.

As for my method (the worse of the two IMO), you needed to download the oowriter2 script at the bottom of my post.
