USB-Speakers sometimes stop working

Hello,

I have the following issue: my Bose USB-Speakers (Companion 5) stop playing any sound sometimes. The audio players (e.g. VLC, clementine) still look as if they were playing, but one can't here any sound. This only happens if one starts to play a new file, it never happens in the middle of a played file. There are no other issues like cracking sound that indicate that something is going wrong, just a track that's played fine followed by a track that's not. The card is handled by the module snd_usb_audio and it is still loaded and used after the crash (according to lsmod). I configured alsa: (/etc/asound.conf)

defaults.pcm.card 0
defaults.pcm.device 0
defaults.ctl.card 0
defaults.pcm.rate_converter "samplerate_best"

aplay -l says:

Karte 0: Audio [Bose USB Audio], Gerät 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Sub-Geräte: 1/1
  Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0
Karte 1: Intel [HDA Intel], Gerät 0: ALC888 Analog [ALC888 Analog]

Karte 2: NVidia [HDA NVidia], Gerät 9: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]

I don't really know how to debug this issue, so please tell me if you need other output. So far, the only way to get sound again is turning the speaker off and on again.

Thanks for help.

EDIT> I forgot to mention that reloading snd_usb_audio doesn't help at all.
