Hello,
I want to load music onto my wifes new mp3 player that I bought, it only mounts it as a drive. I can see the player on the desktop and in the filesystem. Rythmbox and Banshee do not detect it at all, please help I just want it to work.
Arch linux 64 bit, Enlightenment

any ideas? I might have to ditch Linux if I can not resolve this issue.. I have three different mp3 players and none of them will be recognized as such. two mount as file systems.

Maybe someone could tell me what mp3 players they use and how they got them working?

So,
I switched login managers from slim to enlightenment's entrance and now here is the new output when I load rhythmbox
(rhythmbox:701): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: Unable to grab media player keys: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SettingsDaemon was not provided by any .service files
The ipod appears on the desktop now, as do the other mp3 players. I am still working on mounting. For some reason now it is not letting me mount any of the drives. And now no cd's will mount. everything appears but just unable to mount anything. Maybe this is a permissions things? I will experiment with more login managers.

I installed gdm, it just gave me a black screen, I logged in using (ctl + alt + f3) and entered the command startx. it loaded my desktop and now everything seems to be mounting just fine now except, for music cd's they only appear in banshee. And When I run the command banshee in terminal it and mount an ipod it does this.

I think for my original problem of not being able to access my mp3 player via mp3 player software I am going to look into rockbox anyone have any experience with this?

Lol, although no one responded to this post I was able to figure things out here is the solution, it might apply to all mp3 players it will allow you to sync, and add play list from rhythmbox
http://www.webupd8.org/2010/06/how-to-u … music.html
I think I can modify the code to just use the root directory, when I place music files in the root directory of this device it allows the coby's oem menu to work with the music, otherwise it is creating a folder called mp3. I hope this helps others out!
