I just discovered that /usr/lib/systemd/system/polkitd.service is not owned by any package. (In contast polkit.service is owned by polkit.)
Is this file supposed to exist? If not, what might I have done wrong to end up with it left on my system and what is the best way to deal with this file and to find any others which might be hanging around as the result of whatever-it-is-I-screwed-up?
Note: I can find references to this file in forum threads but they all seem to be from a point when I guess this file was supposed to exist. Just in case it had been e.g. created at install, I searched through everything in /var/abs/*/*/* for polkitd but I can only find references to user and group creation in install scripts/PKGBUILDs etc. and I can't find anything relevant in the file listings for packages under /var/pacman/ either.

That was the old name of the file when it came from systemd-arch-units. Probably you squirreled it away when removing that package, if the new polkit.package wasn't available yet to replace it. I know I did that myself. Delete it.

Thanks. I don't remember doing anything anywhere near that sensible but I did confirm it definitely came from an old version of systemd-arch-units, as you said. (It didn't seem to be included in the very last version of that package I had installed but I found it in an earlier one.)
Thanks very much.
