I am trying to get acerhdf to build on this netbook so I can get the fan speed regulated better.
The package from the AUR: acerhdf, wont build. I first tried using packer. That did not work so I did it manually using the makepkg method. Still no luck here is my error output:
make -C /lib/modules/3.6.10-1-ARCH/build SUBDIRS=/tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod modules make: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-3.6.10-1-ARCH' CC [M] /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.o /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.c: In function ‘acerhdf_register_thermal’: /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.c:671:12: warning: passing argument 3 of ‘thermal_zone_device_register’ makes integer from pointer without a cast [enabled by default] In file included from /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.c:40:0: include/linux/thermal.h:154:29: note: expected ‘int’ but argument is of type ‘void *’ /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.c:671:12: error: too few arguments to function ‘thermal_zone_device_register’ In file included from /tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.c:40:0: include/linux/thermal.h:154:29: note: declared here make: *** [/tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod/acerhdf.o] Error 1 make: *** [_module_/tmp/packerbuild-1000/acerhdf/acerhdf/src/acerhdf_kmod] Error 2 make: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-3.6.10-1-ARCH' make: *** [default] Error 2 ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build(). Thanks for any and all help.
One, acerhdf has been part of the kernel for a looooooong time now, so no need to compile anything. Two, it doesn't support the D250, so chances are high it doesn't support the D270 either.
Ok, then. I am correct in assuming there is no other way of getting the fan regulated then, right?
PS. Nice machine. Looks good, very cheap, even has variants with Linux pre-installed. Too bad CedarView graphics are such a pain in the butt.
I have a D250 and I tried everything in the world and couldn't regulate the fan.
Even lm_sensors fails to work.
ok then. I will probably keep an eye out for something.
Gusar, although the graphics is a pain to deal with I didn't have too many problems. I did initially struggle with getting it to work under plain ol' Arch. I decided to give ArchBang a try and it worked out of box (at least it seems to ). lol. I got an extended battery and thing last for like some where around 7 hours. Overall, I'm quite happy with it.
Well, unaccelerated graphics is not a pain - gma500_gfx and xf86-video-modesetting. But if you want to get acceleration working, and hardware video decoding, that's something else entirely.
