Dell E6410 & Port Replicator

Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem in regards to my Dell port replicator that I'm using to pipe video to dual monitors.

I have the following graphics card - 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] (rev a2)

I have the Nvidia proprietary drivers installed from AUR - version 310.

What's happening is when I boot the laptop with the lid closed and on the docking station.  Output is displayed on my main external monitor.  I'm able to boot Arch and reach the login screen.  I'll log in and as soon as I "startx".  My external monitor dies and output is then moved to the laptop display.  I have to open the lid, go into "nvidia-settings" and reconfigure my display settings every time.

Any thoughts?

Here is my X config.

Re: Dell E6410 & Port Replicator

I think I may know what the problem is.  However I'm not quite sure how to fix it.

I believe I need to configure both my displays as individual X screens rather than using TwinView.  However, the root of the issue seems to be the nvidia-settings application isn't saving my display settings.  I've tried exporting the configuration to /etc/X11/Xorg.conf with no change in behavior.

Thoughts?
