[Solved] Tsc: Fast TSC calibration failed

I have my previous Arch setup working before. But after last update (new kernel I guess), my Arch was failed to boot, and shutdown itself.
I've try googling and none of the 'solution' (mostly in Arch forum itself) have helped my solve this issue.

So I decided to try booting from Arch live USB. Guess what, the Arch live USB also failed to boot, due to the same error.
I've recorded the error and I hope somebody can point me to a solution, because I have reinstalled my Windows
and I have wiped Arch partition, so I can also reinstall it as soon as my Windows setup have finished.

But unfortunately that's not what happened and I'm stuck with a non working Live USB.
I have tested that Live USB on my wife's laptop, and it seems only mine have this problem. Her laptop can boot
ArchBang and Arch Live USB with no such problem.

Guys, here is the video and please have a look:

My netbook have shut itself down like a boss!

Between me (Freddy Krueger) and Arch Linux, I think Arch Linux is scarier,
and it will give you baddest nightmare in your life, if you failed to configure it right..

Not that I have an answer in the first place, but provide more info.
What netbook brand, what Arch iso did you use to build your Live USB?
Did you try another USB ( the disk not the port), provided you have one to test with in the first place.)
Repair the video!, (it's private) so we can watch,)!

Re-edit : Aaahhh..I just noticed there is a new iso released! (2013.01.04)

Tried another USB = same result
I made the video public again, forgot to change the settings..sorry mate..

Yeah alright,) watched the video, it seems to power-off after initializing the keyring..
Is this machine truly 64 bit?
Because the only specs I could find were 32 bit, but hey that doesn't mean it isn't, just asking!

This netbook was meant to be 32-bit if I'm not mistaken but it is 64-bit capable because of its processor..
I'm using Windows 8 64-bit right now..hmmm..
I already tried booting with 32-bit version of Arch Linux, but still failed..

Ah well, if you're running win-8-64-bit right now, than it is, period!

Did you try running a different live OS, something like Ubuntu or Fedora.
From USB...

I just have time to try Boot Repair Disk because my internet speed is just way too slow to download other distro..
But with Boot Repair Disk (Debian + LXDE), I can boot just fine..

Note that I have reformat my netbook, so currently there is no Arch Linux in my partition..
Thus if I wanna use Arch again, I have to reinstall it..I don't care if I can't boot just fine..
The problem is, like you can see in the video, Arch or ArchBang can't boot and being force shut down!

I really wanna use Arch again..what make things complicated is my wife's laptop can boot both
Arch and ArchBang..I assume maybe hardware failure?
Hmmm..that's all information I can give to you..
The only solution I can think for now, is buying a new laptop, which is a radical solution..huh..

P/S: Thanks for trying to help me here..really appreciate it mate..cheers.. smile

Re: [Solved] Tsc: Fast TSC calibration failed

I have this issue of calibration error and after two or three hard reset, booting was fine. Try to use lts kernel and see it is solving your issue.

Yes, I did notice this earlier

Well, I would ask you're wife to switch your laptops and save a few bucks like this tongue
She'll probably agree on this one, and saves your day...
Ah, it will probably not go like this but you can always try....

That's the last thing to consider, costs extra and maybe not neccesary!
You're welcome;)

Hard reset?
You mean, hard reset the netbook?
How can I use lts kernel in live USB?

yes.
kernel version < 3.6.10 should work or use archboot iso.

Re: [Solved] Tsc: Fast TSC calibration failed

I think nobody have the answer, so I have made up my mind and try to start again.
I reformated my netbook, installed Windows 8 first, and then followed by Arch Linux..

I think the problems lies within the hardware itself..I changed the USB port, and Arch start booting again (from live USB)..
I guess it was because cooling fan that I plugged in along side with the live USB..
combination of both of them made Arch failed to boot even from that live USB, so I took out the cooling fan first,
and change the USB port for live USB, and so the Arch booted fine..
