I tried to install tilda. It depends on confuse. But when pacman tried to install it, I got the following error message:
error: confuse: signature from "Thorsten Töpper <atsutane@freethoughts.de>" is unknown trust
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
According to the master-keys webpage Töpper's key is signed by all 5 master keys.
As suggested in the Troubleshooting section of the pacman wiki (here), I resetted all the keys. But a new attempt at installing confuse resulted in the same error. There were no partially downloaded packages in /var/cache/pacman/pkg (see this Q&A in the Troubleshooting section). I removed the downloaded confuse package from /var/cache/pacman/pkg and tried installing confuse again: same error.
Any suggestions?

Delete the package and try again. Per the error it could be corrupt.

Removed the package again and refreshed the keys. Now pacman is behaving again. But why did installing the confuse package resulted in this error?

pacman-key --refresh-keys
This did it for me.
Thanks, Trilby!

Please do not "necrobump" old threads, especially solved ones (FYI, this exact problem and the solution has been in the pacman wiki page for a very long time).
