[Solved] Pulseaudio problem: sound only on right channel

Hi there,

Since yesterday evening, there is no audio output through the left channel. I'm using Gnome and Pulseaudio, and when I test the speakers in gnome sound settings there is only output on the right channel. At first I thought it would be the speakers plug, but the internal left speaker (it's a laptop) doesn't work either.

I'm not sure what I could start testing, because I only switched to pulseaudio after using alsa when it was mandatory (i.e. gnome 3). I never needed any configuration, everything worked out of the box, so I'm kind of lost here.

Can anyone throw any ideas here? Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Edit: my system is up to date as of 9 hours ago, but there was no update right before this started happening.

Is the balance in the speakers altered?
