Hi. I've tried to replace nouveau for nvidia, to test performance. I've installed nvidia and nvidia-utils. Also removed nouveau-dri, xf86-video-nouveau and its libs and followed every https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … au_drivers single step. After installing nvidia driver, I ran nvidia-xconfig to configure /etc/X11/xorg.conf automatically, then rebooted. For my surprise, arch didn't pass that black screen with bad screen resolution, which show mounting status. I had to boot with ubuntu livecd and use chroot to remove nvidia config lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf file to make system work again. Any ideas about how can I install these drivers without doing a new clean arch installation?
Also World of Warcraft is very very laggy with nouveau and Perfect World is not running.
EDIT: Tried to reinstall system, installing nvidia drivers by default. Didn't work! Can't still load X. My gpu is a Geforce 8400 GS and I'm using testing repositories.
EDIT2: Fixed it installing nvidia-304xx drivers instead of nvidia ones. Arch should review installation guide, which tell to 8 series Geforce owners to install "nvidia" drivers.

Well the Nvidia site says the 8000 series is supported so arch does not have to update anything, the 7000 series is now legacy. So not long till the 8000 series goes the same way.
I'm dyslexic Please do not complain about puntuation or spelling and remember most dyslexic people have above average iq.

Who is this "Arch"?
The wiki is maintained by the community, and if you found something that needs to be corrected, maybe it would be better to direct you effort towards fixing that instead of pointing fingers?

1. Why are you using the testing repos?
2. You don't need to run nvidia-xconfig.
