Getting visual artifacts with the latest urxvt update.
Thinking possibly an upstream issue, but would like confirmation first.
Using dwm 6.0 with resizehints = False, if that matters.
Can anyone reproduce and/or recommend a fix?
Reproduce:
- Run tmux in rxvt-unicode 9.17-1
- Fill terminal with text, e.g. `ls -la`
- Resize window
Observation:
If affected window is placed behind another window (e.g. by changing tags in dwm, or by dragging another window over it), the artifacts disappear.
Edit: Solved
Temp fix:
Downgrading to rxvt-unicode 9.16.

Odd. I can't reproduce either by resizing via moving the client from master to the stack or by using the mouse to shrink/enlarge the client.

I also can't replicate it, but it looks like it could be a terminfo issue. Do you set TERM anywhere? Do you have "set-terminal" in your tmux.conf? The first you should not do, the latter I believe should be set.

TERM is not set anywhere.
set-option -g default-terminal "screen-256color" in ~/.tmux.conf.
`echo $TERM` in tmux returns screen-256color.
Hmm, I'll try the mailing list. Seems to be an isolated case.

The other thing I was going to suggest (long shot, mind) is to disable the ls-on-steroids thing; just to rule out another variable...

I'm also encountering this issue after upgrading rxvt-unicode to 9.17. I'm using xmonad w/ an accordion layout so the instance of urxvt in which tmux is running is resized on focus resulting in the tmux status line not being removed from the position it was at prior to the resize. I can reproduce the problem while enlarging a floating urxvt+tmux window as well.
The problem doesn't exist after downgrading to rxvt-unicode 9.16.

I had this issue with screen+urxvt for almost a year and couldn't figure out why, but ironically the issue seems to be gone for me (as of a couple months ago). I still don't know what caused it or what stopped it.

I have the same visual artifacts with rxvt-unicode 9.17 and plain old openbox. No terminal multiplexer is needed either. I just happen to have handily-mapped window resize keybindings, so I do it all the time.
The issue is surely somewhere in here if anyone cares to comb the diff between 9.16 and 9.17.

I'm having the same problem as well.

I've had the same problem for a while now hence I've switched to termite - a few extra deps for a TE that doesn't annoy you is acceptable imo.

I'm having the same issue here with Compiz+urxvt+tmux.

I'm seeing a similar issue with xmonad+urxvt+emacs. No tmux, but I only experience this when I resize while using vertically split "emacs windows".

Same problem here with rxvt-unicode 9.17 + Awesome WM, resize makes artifacts, which can disappear if you switch to another tag/client/tab.
