Hello all you KDE users!
I want to put together a temporary KDE Eye Candy repository with a view to adding all the pkgs to the AUR and then to [community] for the most popular. Some pkgs already exist in AUR but I want to tidy them up and standardize them. The name should depnd on kde-look classification. I am proposing the following names for KDE Eye Candy pkgs:
kdedecor-$name - for kwin decor pkgs
kdestyle-$name - for styles/themes
kdeicons-$name - for icon pkgs
kdesplash-$name - for splash screens
I will collate all existing pkgs with new naming schemes into a temporary repo - from there we will move them back to the AUR.
We also need to figure out exactly what the dependecies are: kdelibs, qt, kdeartwork...what?!
Hope to get some willing contributors!

REPO LOCATION UPDATED
OK I have created the temporary repo to consolidate existing PKGBUILDs.
Please report errors in PKGBUILDs or improvements here and post any new eye candy PKGBUILDs for addition. We will then add them to the AUR and public opinion will move them to [community].
You can access the repo by adding a file to /etc/pacman.d called "kdei" containing:
#
# kdei: kde eye candy pkg repo
#
[kdei]
Server = http://dtw.jiwe.org/pkgs/kdeiAdd this line to pacman.conf:
Include = /etc/pacman.d/kdeiOffline

I'm not sure I can... ![]()

Yeah, I noticed the tidying
I am running the beta too
Well, as I said, baghira is classified as a style on kde-look so i base the name on that - i think the main thing is it's not *just* win decor - which some of the others are
Does that make sense?
Offline
I think the person that submits it picks the catergory actually ![]()

OK - I have added a few more pkgs. To be honest these are now all of the most popular from kde-look. If people still have others to add then just follow the naming scheme and put them in the AUR - only question now is how to replace those already existing in the AUR!
Offline
I'm not sure, but maybe packages like moodin or kdmtheme are worth adding as well? They obviously enhance the eyecandiness of login process - and actually I doubt many people out there know that such things exist at all.

A comparison between your packages and mine:

kde-stuff linspireclear-style 1.11-1They would obviously need remaking, the names being what they are and all, and also I think the deps are a bit inaccurate. But if I'll get around to it... where do you want them? ![]()
Offline
Well, obviously there is some overlap between those I have created and "updated" from the AUR and those in your kde-stuff repo so we'll need to weed those out and decide which are the better PKGBUILDs
Best thing to do is rename them appropriately (as you say) and then pkg them *as if for the AUR* (but don't add them) and then upload them somewhere I can get to them. Then I can check them out and add them to the kdei repo/AUR (where you can then adopt them)
The PKGBUILD for mine are in http://dtw.jiwe.org/pkgs/kdei/PKGBUILDS
Offline
Sounds fine. If you agree to include KDE improvements as "kdeimprov-$name", I'll agree to use "kdedecor" and "kdestyle" for my "kwin" and "kdeqt" packages.
I'll get to work right away.
Edit: Seems your link is broken. :?
Edit2: Was able to figure out the link should've ended with PKGBUILDS and not PKGBUILD (duh!).
Offline
sorry
Yeah, kdeimprov seems fine to me - it's not exactly supposed to be hard and fast - I'm just trying to rather viciously impose a trend - they catch on pretty quick you know ![]()

Okay, have a look at this:

Since it's a deco, it should be named "kdedecor-alloyon". And also, one almost like this can be found among my pkgbuilds above.

Okay, have a look at this:
http://machiavelli.homelinux.org/kde_eye_candy/
Well, to be honest, they are not quite up to scratch. I mean, look at yours and look at mine - mine are properly formated so make a good guideline.
Where your PKGBUILDs are a repeat of any of mine in kdei you may as well leave them as they are as we will use the one collected by me. If you could fix the others tho that would be great.
If you do want to use the license field can you ensure you include the license as per the guidelines, otherwise leave it blank. ? is not an appropriate entry for a license.
Appart from that nice collection and thank you for taking teh time to contribute ![]()

Sorry about the pkgbuilds, they are a bit old, and I really just renamed them. I'll see if I get around to doing any real work on making them prettier anytime soon.
