I'm trying to get my Bluetooth Headphones to work. So far I've successfully managed to connect to my headset.
The headset appears in KMixer.
Also when I got to System Settings>Multimedia>Phonon>Device Preference my headset appears in each of the lists. I've raised my headset up the list to be first preference. However unfortunately when I press the "test" button, the sound comes out of my laptop speakers instead of the headset.
Additionally if I go to "Audio Hardware Setup" and select my headset as the "soundcard" it works fine when I test it. However despite the fact that I press the "apply" button the settings don't seem to "stick". When I come back to the same place after exiting, it has reverted back to my laptop sound card.
Any ideas how I can get this fixed?

I don't use KDE, but I assume you are ultimately using pulsesudio, yeah?
Maybe trying to debug pulseaidio directly might yeild more info.

It's weird. Everything seems to be in order. Pulseaudio can see my BT headset and the profile is correctly set:
Name: bluez_card.00_12_3D_00_7A_53
Driver: module-bluetooth-device.c
Owner Module: 29
Properties:
device.description = "BTH-500"
device.string = "00:12:3D:00:7A:53"
device.api = "bluez"
device.class = "sound"
device.bus = "bluetooth"
device.form_factor = "headset"
bluez.path = "/org/bluez/410/hci0/dev_00_12_3D_00_7A_53"
bluez.class = "0x240404"
bluez.name = "BTH-500"
device.icon_name = "audio-headset-bluetooth"
device.intended_roles = "phone"
Profiles:
hsp: Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP) (sinks: 1, sources: 1, priority. 20)
a2dp: High Fidelity Playback (A2DP) (sinks: 1, sources: 0, priority. 10)
off: Off (sinks: 0, sources: 0, priority. 0)

hsp-input: Bluetooth Telephony (HSP/HFP) (priority: 2000, latency offset: 0 usec)

I then test is using the following command:
paplay -d bluez_sink.00_23_XX_XX_XX_XX /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav
and I hear the sound perfectly.
So everything seems to be working ok. However I still can't get the sound out of the bluetooth headset. It always goes to the laptop speakers. For some reason I can't seem to route the sounds to come out of my BT headset instead. I'm sure I'm missing something small.........

Ok some more succes. I went into kmix and chose the "playback streams". There I right clicked and chose move to "my BT headset". That kind of sorted the problem. However videos in youtube don't seem to work this way.
