A10 + AMD discrete graphics with open source driver

I'm using a laptop with an A10 and AMD discrete graphics, trying to use the Radeon driver. I would like to know if there is a way to force Radeon to use the discrete card, because it seems to be defaulting to the A10's integrated graphics.

Re: A10 + AMD discrete graphics with open source driver

Hi cyan6,
run this command from terminal and then reboot:

amdconfig --initial

REBOOT
you will get an option in catalyst to switch cards between apu and discrete....

hope this helps..

The above command will only work if you have installed amd drivers...

There is no amdconfig command, you meant aticonfig certainly.

Re: A10 + AMD discrete graphics with open source driver

aticonfig comes from the amd proprietary driver, catalyst.
The OP mentioned using the opensource driver.

This wiki page should give you an idea what is possible : Hybrid_graphics

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

Re: A10 + AMD discrete graphics with open source driver

I meant 'amdconfig' which is from the proprietary drivers, both exist, including aticonfig.
Lone_Wolf solution is for the open source.
