New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

Hi,

A week ago, NVIDIA released new version 310.40 of their display driver:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-disp … river.html

LINUX X64 (AMD64/EM64T) DISPLAY DRIVER
Version: 310.40 Certified
Release Date: 2013.03.08
Operating System: Linux 64-bit

I can't find anything about it in the archives, neither in AUR.
Has it been packaged for Arch yet?

Re: New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

What is the difference from version 313 in the repos?

I don't know. At first glance, version numbers are different: 313 != 310.40
Also, if the 313 was released in Dec 2012: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=n … px=MTI1MDA

I'm not experienced with NVIDIA products, first time trying to setup Linux for NVIDIA cards.
Is it possible 310.40 is dedicated to 64-bit, thus different versioning?
This is not the case, certainly, 32-bit driver has the same version number 310.40 and the same release date: http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-disp … river.html

Files seem to have the same size. Can't say for sure that they are the same without a checksum, but it would appear that 310 is derived from 313 beta.

Re: New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

You're right, they are the same drivers. On NVIDIA Unix Drivers page they are both listed:

Latest Long Lived Branch version: 310.40
Latest Short Lived Branch version: 313.26

where the Long-Lived Linux Driver 310.40 includes

bug-fixes and other minor updates for non-legacy hardware

.

I will try 313.26 as it's already packaged. Just wondering, why not to package the long-lived branch too?

Re: New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

I guess the short-lived branch is where support for newest xorg and kernel lands firsthand. That would be a perfect match for a rolling-release bleeding-edge distro.

Re: New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

Why you say it would? I thought it's already there:

nvidia 313.26-1 in extra - https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/nvidia/
nvidia 313.26-2 in testing -  https://www.archlinux.org/packages/test … 64/nvidia/

It simply would be good to mention if these package related to long-lived 310.40, and how. So, those who search NVIDIA website for drivers and then try to find corresponding Arch packages do not get confused.

Re: New NVIDIA Driver 310.40

Looks like the 313.26 driver includes support for the new Titan. In fact, the NVIDIA driver website will only show the 313 driver if you select the GeForce Titan, otherwise it shows you the 310.40 driver.
