Codec issues with x264-hi (10bit)

Hello,
I am wondering how I can play HD mkvs... I narrowed it down to x264-hi being the culprit here, but I am still not able to play those...
Every player I tried (and I tried them all, list below) stops at a specific time in a file, with this or that error, but according to google all linked to x264-hi.
I have tried:
* mplayer
* mplayer2
* gstreamer (totem)
* vlc
* mplayer2-git
* ffmpeg
* ffmpeg-full-git-fixed
* every one of the above with one of the following installed:
** x264
** x264-hi
** x264-snapshot-hi
** x264-git

I really don't know what to try anymore, and its really annoying if a film pauses every 10 minutes (but only when you're 1.5h in)... I havn't had that issue 2 weeks ago when I was on my old archinstall (tiling/no-de), I noticed it first on a week long experiment with Debian. Now that I am back on Arch (GNOME3 for a change) it still haunts me...

Maybe your file is corrupted. I'm actually pretty sure about this, because as you said, it actually works, but just to a specific point in the file. So do you have a backup of that file?

Re: Codec issues with x264-hi (10bit)

I am pretty sure it isn't, I first noticed with the newest X-Men movie, about 5 times in the whole movie. Now the problem is some predecessor X-Men, again like 3 times thorough the movie. I am pretty sure it is a general problem with the HD stuff... that, or some punk on my house network puts badly encoded stuff into his share. I guess I could knock at his door and ask him about it. Anyway, I will later compile a list of errors some of the players throw I guess, perhaps somebody can make something of it. Probably should have done that in the first place...

x264-hi has nothing to do with decoding. Are you referring to files created by x264-hi?
