After recent upgrade I am getting following error:

Loading extension GLX
(WW) NVIDIA: This server has an unsupported input driver ABI version (have 19.1, need < 19.0).  The driver will continue to load, but may behave strangely.

What can I do?

I had this error when I installed the Nvidia driver. I completely uninstalled the driver, made sure everything was up to date (such as Xorg) and installed it again. For me that worked.

There is nothing to do - it doesn't appear to be a real problem. Only thing we could do is report it to Nvidia.

Caused by this line in xorg-server's hw/xfree86/common/xf86Module.h

#define ABI_XINPUT_VERSION	SET_ABI_VERSION(19, 1)

Well, just seems to crash my X windows.... unless its some other problem with recent update of xbmc.

To get rid of the message, you'd have to go back to xorg-server 1.13.3, which has in its log:

ABI class: X.Org XInput driver, version 18.0

But anyway, you should check for other possible causes. And since you don't state an Nvidia *version*, see Nvidia versions.

I have the same issue, Xorg complaining about ABI.

At first I thought that was the casue of xbmc not starting and tried downgrading Xorg, but still no go.

I now have latest Xorg, but with xbmc-12.0 and not latest 12.1 and everything works again.

This looks like a xbmc-12.1 issue.

It crasches for me on 2 different machines at startup. I'll try to get some stacktrace.

edit:
recompiled to get stacktrace but my build works. (had to --disable-cec)
recompiled again without debug symbols and it works too.
12.1-4 from testing doesn't work.

I have the same problem. What's strange - startx works from root account, but doesn't work for user. I also can't start kdm.

I also did an upgrade today and I have similiar problems. Upon XDM starting, it is not showing a login prompt and X is running wild in the background, using all the memory and processor and then finally crashes. I have this same error in xdm.log too, I tried downgrading xserver and nvidia and the kernel as required and the warning is gone but still the problem is there. I don't know what else to do.

It's a nvidia thing, no X or Xbmc related since I don't have that installed now. Also I'm running Xmonad and this is a fresh install on / and /usr so all libs are new and come from only official repos, not AUR. Quite a few things actually I had to repair again, Haskell + Arch repos is a big nuisance (cabal, ghc, arch what to use? - now I know) and some iTCO_wdt bug registering watchdog timer from Intel twice, and so on.. but none of it is really something Arch can deal with.

So be patient and wait till they fix it or file a bug-report at them vendors I guess.

(oh and chrome/chromium/iron is a BIG PHAT bug-infested pain too)

I'm not sure if this is the correct fix, but I installed the nvidia-304xx packages instead and x is working.
