Mount key directories as a hybrid raid1 system for performance

So i stumbled across this thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 73#p493773

there is a post stating how to go about mounting the system as a raid1 setup with a ramdisk as 1 part and a seperate disk as the other. My root partition is pretty meaty, and i could not have a big enough ramdisk

BUT!

I only use at most 3gigs of my ram, so i could make a ramdisk with the remaining 3gigs of space, and only mount key directories.

My questions:
can /usr/lib /usr/bin /usr/sbin be seperate to the / partition?
Would i have to make a seperate partition for each directory?
Are these the best directories to be using: the performance i am seeking is snappiness, fast opening of programs

Any other thoughts appreciated
