The recent fontconfig update has my fonts in a complete mess. Is all scrabbled.
I provide two screenshots to show you what I mean..
Previous to updating fontconfig,
After updating fontconfig,
So far the only solution I've had was downgrading fontconfig.. But there has to be a different way? Any idea what could be causing this.. It screws with all my fonts, from terminals to gtk applications.

Check your rules in /etc/fonts/conf.d/
Maybe you have a rule for e.g. embeddedbitmap - could be that embeddedbitmap is now disabled.
Strangely enough, the new fontconfig wants to install 10-scale-bitmap-fonts.conf, which it itself moans about! So, personally, I just delete that weird file - I don't use bitmap fonts anyway.
