kernel 3.8.8-1 can't find any block device

After last kernel upgrade boot process stoped at "wait for root device".
There is nothing about initializing disk drives in dmesg and no block devices listed in /dev. There is no /dev/disk directory too.
I do have 3 disk drives. The devices are connected and present in bios. I am pretty sure they are fine.
Any idea what is going on?

Any errors on the upgrade? Sounds like mkinitcpio didn't work right. Module problem, maybe?
