For those who care: the problem is solved now. I pulled in the Arch updates of the last month today and everything works as expected now. Thanks to whoever fixed this!

It is still working correctly in my Gnome session here. Only in GDM i have the problem again...
I reported it to be working all of a sudden a year ago, but the problem reappeared (without a reinstall) a couple of months later so I'm also still experiencing the issue that the Numlock LED shows to be off while in fact Numlock is on. Pressing Numlock twice after login resolves this...
