aufs3

There doesn't seem to a an Arch wiki about this. I'm trying to mount two drives to a single mount point, and aufs seems to be the way to go.

Kernel is 3.8.2-1 and so I installed aufs3 and aufs3-util, but trying to mount with -t aufs gives me a filesystem unknown error. A quick look through /usr/lib/modules/kernel reveals autofs4, so I tried that but same error.

modprobe aufs, or aufs3, or autofs4 gives a module not found error.

What exactly should the kernel module and filesystem be called?

Hi Roken,

You need the aufs kernel modules as well - You'll need either the aufs_friendly kernel or the pf kernel which supports aufs.  The aufs_friendly one is the easier one to install though if you're using aufs for root.

What makes this the "easier one to install"?  As far as I know, either the pf-kernel or the aufs_friendly kernel both have the relevant patchset applied to them, so if you are using the AUR, you are going to compile the kernel either way.  But there is a pf-kernel user repo, so with that you could just install a binary package if you are willing to trust the maintainer of that repo.
