"motion" - how to add username/password access to webcam stream

Hi,
I've been using Motion for a webcam setup on a Pogoplug.  There does not seem to be a way to make the webcam server require some kind of username/password.

In other words, if you know the IP address and port number, anyone can see the webcam.  The conf file for Motion doesn't offer a username/password option for the webcam stream, only for the control page.

Is there an alternative way to make Motion require username/password?  Or just a password even?

Thanks!

Have you read through the documentation?

Yes, I read through the guide, and I read through the config file.  The closest thing I could find is that the control page for Motion can be username/password protected, but not the actual image stream.  It seems like an obvious feature, so I thought maybe I'm missing something basic - like maybe Linux can natively do the password/username protection and that's why it wasn't implemented by Motion?

So, still searching for a way to password protect the stream.  TIA!
