Text as Block error. Related to Pango and googlefontdirectory

Using Gnome3.8   .Just installed googlefontdirectory and restarted. The screen went kaput! . Instead of text, the screen was filled with Rectangular Blocks instead of text.
When I ran google-tweak-tool to try to change the default font, the following came in the terminal output :

The above is just a small snippet, it is generated every time I scroll the list and a new font is generated. It seemed to me that every font installed by googlewebfont is affected, including Cantarell, which I believe was the reason , the whole Gnome Desktop, starting with GDM was in blocks ..

OK I know, that AUR packages are not supported and all, and is dangerous [ Seeing everything in blocks can be pretty devestating for someone new and all] .But seriously, this is fonts that we are talking about -_-' ..

My question is this:
Is this happening only for me?  Anyone else having the same issue? Anyone willing to try? I'm sure it is not restricted to google fonts. There have been some instances in the forum where installing fonts from deviantart can also cause the same. The proposed solutions include Deleting python3 [ I kid you not!] and Removing the font in question.

So, any help correcting this?
