Keyboard backlit illumination

Hi,

I'm having problems with figuring out why my keyboard's backlit illumination can't be controlled.
If I turn it on from the BIOS settings, it stays turned on until Arch Linux starts booting (right after selecting it from the GRUB menu), at which point it just turns off.

The FN+Z key is usually supposed to toggle the illumination. It is being detected correctly, but has no effect:

[germain@arch ~]$ acpi_listen
button/kbdillumtoggle KBILLUM 00000080 00000000 K

/sys/class/leds/ also doesn't have anything related to the keyboard's backlit illumination:

[germain@arch ~]$ ls /sys/class/leds/
ath9k-phy0  mmc0::  toshiba::illumination

(toshiba::illumination controls the touchpad's illumination bar)

Any ideas about how to figure out what's wrong?

Thanks smile

Re: Keyboard backlit illumination

Update: backlit illumination is working fine with the latest 3.9.2 kernel. However, it can't be toggled on or off unless I do it from the BIOS settings. The information posted above hasn't changed. Would there be any way to toggle this directly (I was thinking of doing it by echoing 0 to the brightness file, but could find none)?

Thanks smile
