awesome desktop environment & terminator terminal-emulator problem.

awsome version v3.5
terminator version 0.97

When you want to change the size of the window, it usually goes volatile without control (the size of the window changes every now and then, bigger or smaller).

Is there anyone have the same problem like me ?

I emailed the author of terminator and be told that this kind of bug has been fix in version 0.97 sad

Don't use terminator wink

Is there really any reason to if you have a tiling window manager?

well, I've used to this terminal already ...

Re: awesome desktop environment & terminator terminal-emulator problem.

I had this problem, too.  I just explicitly downgraded to 0.95 (which doesn't have this issue with awesome 3.4) and the problem went away.

I don't use terminator's tabs because I have a tiling WM and GNU screen, but terminator's a nice terminal emulator regardless, and hell, I've already got a config file for it.

Disabling "Window geometry hints" in the Global preferences panel fixed this for me.

I don't have a solution to the problem, but you might consider using termite. It's built on vte, so it should (conceivably) render fonts the same way terminator does, but it's lighter and designed specifically with tiling window managers/keyboard-centric interaction in mind.
