Policy for really old bugs?

There are some bugs (Ex. FS#1561) that have been filed many years ago and have not had recent activity. Should I comment on them first or ask that they be closed?

Re: Policy for really old bugs?

My opinion:

Since the bug is still open and interest was shown in it, a simple "What is the status of this bug?" seems appropriate.

Alternatively, if you don't want to "clutter up" the bug report, you could send the same message to the developer directly.

Re: Policy for really old bugs?

No need to do anything for pacman bug reports.    They are fairly well maintained.

Generally a bug that old means that it is an interesting idea, but very low priority for everyone who is contributing patches.

Do you know if any progress has been made in regards to that bug report?
