gvfs-afc/libimobiledevice: Message did not recieve a reply

It seems like the latest libimobiledevice (1.1.5-1) and gfvs-afc (1.16.2-1) updates have removed the ability to mount iphones for me. Prior to the update, I could mount the device with gvfs-mount and ifuse.

Now, mounting with gvfs-mount afc://$ISERIAL fails with the following message:

Error mounting location: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)

Additionally, mounting the device with ifuse appears to work correctly, but the mount directory is inaccessible, and the rights for the mount directory all read '?'.

Has anyone else successfully mounted an iphone with gvfs-afc or ifuse with libimobiledevice 1.1.5-1?

It is a good idea to "shop around" before you settle on a doctor. Ask about the condition of his Mercedes. Ask about the competence of his mechanic. Don't be shy! After all, you're paying for it.

I got the same problem , I reinstall archlinux agian and its same issue , I got another flavour like archbang and chakara and all of them whenever I do the update pacman -Syu I got the same problem and the iphone is not mounting.

I believe we have to wait for an update to solve this issue.

Reinstalling is not going to solve the issue "magicly". Also arch derivatives get no support here, and have nothing to do with Arch, I thnk they cannot be used as a comparison or reference for nothing, because the are forks, with all the fork word implies.

I think I've done my homework on bbs, #archlinux and googling, and found nothing... Also i got this from dmesg output when trying to mount manually with ifuse:

[ 105.595108] ifuse[500]: segfault at 2dd0 ip 00007ff49b7efc05 sp 00007ff4998e5cd8 error 4 in libimobiledevice.so.4.0.1[7ff49b7e3000+1a000]

But the interesting part is that Shotwell can import photos from the device . Surprisingly Rhytmbox cannot play music from it. In an iPad2 ( i'm going to suggest to Apple to change its name to iCrap ) neither Shotwell or Rhythmbox can get photos/music from the device. I'm running iOS 6.3 (latest version).

Also for more info here is my uname -a, also i think is important to mention that i'm using GNOME (latest version from main repos).

 Linux arch 3.9.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat May 11 20:31:08 CEST 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm happy enough if i can retreive the photos from the iPhone, but is annoying that this stopped to work.

If it mounts on Ubuntu, check to see which modules are loaded using lsmod and compare that list of modules to the list of modules that are loaded on Arch and derivatives.  It may just be a matter of enabling something in our kernel.
