-161MB in latest update

I don't really have any reason to suspect something went wrong in the update but a loss of 161MB seems excessive.  What package got shrunk so dramatically?

Re: -161MB in latest update

Uncomment (i.e. enable) VerbosePkgLists in pacman.conf to get more detailed info.
My guess would be it was something mesa-related.

Re: -161MB in latest update

Yeah, it was the new mesa and ati-dri packages. I'm guessing it has something to do with the llvm-amdgpu-lib-snapshot package.

Re: -161MB in latest update

I don't use the repo mesa packages...
https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … kages/mesa

I noticed --with-llvm-shared-libs
If this is new, then it is most likely the reason.

edit: To show the difference:
Some time ago I built my lib32-mesa with "--build=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --host=i686-pc-linux-gnu" because there was some bug with crosscompiling. Unfortunately the configure script doesn't support --with-llvm-shared-libs with this sort of crosscompiling but I saw in arch's lib32-mesa PKGBUILD that it apparently builds again with the old style cross compile, so I did it:
-250,21 MiB on my own lib32 mesa package.

Re: -161MB in latest update

I don't thing so. I update arch every ~ 2 days and about 2 weeks ago most of updated packages are smaller then before. Not only mesa (but here the difference is very noticeable), but most of packages eg. libreoffice too. I haven't made any statistics, but it is how I can remember.

Re: -161MB in latest update

No, the correct reason has been highlighted above. llvm shared libs has dramatically reduced the number of copies in the mesa page which was previously at 7.
