[SOLVED] Asus z77 sabertooth if 3570k overclock

I have an ASUS z77 sabertooth motherboard running the latest firmware (as of a month or 2 ago) and I'm trying to overclock my cpu to run PCSX2. I've successfully done this in windows. I have the bios/uefi settings done correctly so that it's running at 4.2 ghz, and i've used it under windows for months now without a problem. So the problem starts when I try to do it under linux. It seems to not want to allow the overclock to happen.

So, I'll run mprime and then it'll overclock just fine. going up to 4.2 ghz and staying there, but then when I load up pcsx2 it'll just go to ~3.3 ghz and not move up at all, which is unfortunate because the games are lagging because of it. How can I make it so that it'll hit 4.2 when I'm running pcsx2?

edit: btw I'm using i7z for getting my information

I think you might try changing to cpu power governor...however looks like with kernel 3.9 and new intel chips, the pstate driver is used automatically instead...

that wiki  article was exactly what i needed.

i changed the threshhold for stepping up in frequency in ondemand. worked like a charm.

didn't realize that was on the wiki. thanks for that man.
