I'm running an extremely bare Openbox+SLiM setup, just installed, on an ancient HP EVO d510 (with integrated Intel graphics). I would like to use the computer to run a newsfeed on a vertically-oriented screen, but when I use xrandr's rotation commands (xrandr -o left/right/inverted), Xorg begins to consume ~99% of my CPU, rendering the computer unusably slow. Reverting to normal orientation instantly solves the problem. Disabling DRI seemingly has no effect -- this is the only solution that any of my searches have turned up. I've also attempted to add a Rotate option in 10-monitor xorg.conf.d, but the option is "not used" for my drivers, according to Xorg.conf. Furthermore, I expect that it would likely have the same effect. Is this simply an unfortunate driver issue that I should wait out, or can I do something about it?
