[SOLVED] Make PCSX2 work

This is the output of the error

(pcsx2:2175): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_rowstride: assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

(pcsx2:2175): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_width: assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed

(pcsx2:2175): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_get_height: assertion `GDK_IS_PIXBUF (pixbuf)' failed
ZZOgl-PG: Calling GSopen2.
ZZOgl-PG: Capturing ZZOgl window.
ZZOgl-PG: Got Doublebuffered Visual!
The program 'pcsx2' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'GLXBadFBConfig'.
  (Details: serial 23 error_code 178 request_code 153 minor_code 34)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Violación de segmento (`core' generado)

Sometimes it won't give the segmentation fault, it only stays black and if I try to do anything on the window I get the message dialog saying the window is frozen, to force closing or wait. If I wait obviously nothing happens.

i see you're using zzogl. have you tried gsdx? it's more compatible and is just way better developed, plus it's actually still being supported. i don't think zzogl has seen any updates in years.

Are you sure you can use GSDX on Linux?

Last I looked years ago, it had some unfinished opengl code.
It does have software rendering though. But try run a game that uses GS a bit, and you are crawling.

The PS2 emulation sucks pretty much everywhere, and I suggest getting the actual console instead.
PS2 isn't that simple machine to emulate really (especially accurately).

yes you can use gsdx in linux. it started out standing for gs directx i think, but they added a software renderer that uses sdl i think. i use gsdx myself. they are slowly adding in opengl support too though. it's super buggy atm and probably won't be properly implemented for a long time.

i dunno what you mean by crawling by using the software renderer. i have no difference in emulator speed using zzogl and gsdx software renderer.

zzogl just doesn't render many things properly.

ps2 emulation doesn't suck. it's actually highly highly compatible at this point.

according to their compatibility list ~80 percent of games are fully playable. The number listed is 1868 games.  i have yet to find a game that won't run accurately to the point where i can't tell the difference. you need to have the hardware to be able to support it though.

the majority of that last 20 percent of games are super obscure games from super obscure regions and games that haven't been tested on the latest versions of the emulator.

While I typically agree, for what PCSX2 is, it's actually not bad. We're not in the levels of garbage like mame, zsnes, epsxe, etc.
As for accuracy, it's highly overrated and never really beings any real benefit. I personally haven't met anyone who plays these older games for accuracy either and the only justification seems to be that accurate emulation can play obscure games no one plays anyway.

Anyway, to sum up, even thought PCSX2 is the only emulator available atm, it doesn't do a terrible job of it either.

What sort of CPU are you using to not notice a difference between software and hardware rendering? Even an i5 will struggle severely with software rendering. That and software rendering is very slow regardless.

Re: [SOLVED] Make PCSX2 work

OK, the plugins didn't work but the solution was as simple as installing the SVN version from AUR, now it works.

Also here with an i5 3570 oc'ed to 4.3 I have nice playing experience.
