Media players won't recognize my Android device

I've been trying to sync my music to my android phone using a media player so I don't have to rsync directly to the sd card, but none of them seem to recognize my Sprint Galaxy S3.

I'm running Gnome 3.8 and have mtp installed.  I can access my phone through adb perfectly fine.  I've tried using both Banshee and Clementine and neither of them works.

I've also tried this, but it didn't help.

Any tips?
