Archlinux User's World Map

xterminus has started a World Map for Archers on the wiki

That page contains all the info you need to find your coordinates and to view the map.  Feel free to add your info as you please.  Also, keep in mind that the map is manually generated, so it may take some time for you to show up.

For kicks, here's a direct link to the map

Cheers,
phrak

Re: Archlinux User's World Map

We've had a map of just the devs cooking for a long time, but I've been dragging my feet. Perhaps this is some encouragement for me to finish it eh?

Re: Archlinux User's World Map

yeah, you don't want the users to get ahead of the dev or we'll have to invert the name.

Um.... Linux Arch?

About the Europe map:
It grieves me that Finland is not shown fully in the map - it is cut just so that my location (as well as murkus') is not show! Can this be fixed in future maps?

It seems that it's very common to have European maps cut off so that Finland isn't shown completely. I just hadn't realized that even Helsinki is cut off too..

Re: Archlinux User's World Map

Okay, i changed the dimensions of the Europe.  Finland and most all of Eastern Europe should be visible now.

Let me know if you guys need anything else tweaked. wink

Re: Archlinux User's World Map

It looks like some of the names are getting recorded over with other names and then lost underneath somewhere.  Does the map allow any method for seeing all the names?

Just to teach you: the eastern end of europe is the ural. You still cut of the european part of russia, parts of the ukraine...

As Donald Rumsfeld knows, europeans are old fashioned. But I won't complain about it, if you'ld cut off half of canada, texas and mexico from north america, brasil from south america, southafrica from afrika, too. Btw, no one from antarctica? I heard a rumour they where very tux related down there...

My goodness! Europe is really overcrowded with Arch-Users, while they remains scarce at the boards of the nile ... At least those few users are clearly visible  smile

Hilarious - look at the location of people in Europe and then look at which translations of the AUR have been submitted...don't quite tally does it?  Sort it out you euro-phones - you lazy bastards!

There was already another Arch Linux map project when xterminus started this project: http://www.frappr.com/archlinux
It uses Google maps. I added myself to both but I don't see the need of two maps projects. :?

Re: Archlinux User's World Map

I like both, although I think the google maps version is more useful.

Too bad you can't enter a lat-long into the Google Maps version. Then again, maybe I don't need everyone using Arch to know exactly where my house is.
