samsung_laptop module fails to load: 'no such device'.

I have a samsung laptop and blacklisted the samsung_laptop module through the kernel line, having heard tales of it bricking laptops. Seeing as that got fixed, however, I wanted to re-load the module. I removed the kernel parameter that blacklisted the module, and tried to modprobe it back into existence. It failed with the error "no such device."

Anyone have an idea as to how to get around this? I need to shut off my keyboard backlight but the /sys file needed to do so is nonexistent without the module.

UEFI boot, or bios?  Because I think the UEFI fix for that was actually to just stop the module from being loadable unless using bios.

UEFI. I heard the same thing, but that was back in Feb. of this year. I assumed that it was fixed, but perhaps not.

Not that I have heard... I think that is the fix for now.  As samsung has not actually gone to the trouble of making anything happen inthis regard.
