netscape and firebird keep asking to install java plugin....

netscape and firebird keep asking me to install the java plugin, but I've already downloaded and installed j2re 1.4.2 to /usr/local/

ideas?

you need to symlink the necessary files in jre (any reason you did not install the j2sdk package?) to the appropriate directory in mozilla or firebird.
