I successfully installed projectm-libvisual-alsa from the AUR. Initially, nothing rendered. I looked into some errors and found out it had to do with needing ProjectM 2.10.
projectm-libvisual-alsa renders ProjectM now, but it seems to not be detecting any sound output because it doesn't react to anything I play. My computer only has ALSA installed. I don't want to use Pulse or Jack.
I get these two errors repeated infinitely in terminal:
libvisual CRITICAL: projectM-libvisual-alsa: get_input_plugin(): assertion `input->plugin != NULL' failed
libvisual CRITICAL: projectM-libvisual-alsa: visual_input_run(): The input plugin is not loaded correctly.I believe they may have displayed before I updated ProjectM too.
Any thoughts on what I need to do to solve this?

i have the same problem.
i had to install libvisual-plugins, too.
there's no error messages anymore but it still doesn't seem to notice any output.
i'm running mpd and ncmpcpp (what a horrible name, i can never remember it).
i have mpd set up to use alsa and pipe output.
i tried restarting mpd, starting projectm before mpd... nothing.
i have no idea how to set up projectm and can't see any doc either.
