Trying to install arch on an old Dell optiplex d620 that has played nicely with other Linux distros. Can't seem to get grub to boot after install; whenever I try to boot arch grub gives me these errors:
error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/all_video.mod' not found.
Loading Linux core repo kernel ...
error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/relocator.mod' not found.
Loading initial ramdisk ...
error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/relocator.mod' not found.
Press any key to continue ...
Then it just kicks me back to the grub menu.
I tried reinstalling grub as described in the wiki, but the errors persist. If I go into the grub console and ls /boot/grub/i386-pc/ both "missing" files are listed, and they even auto-complete. If I try to ls the actual files, I get "file not found" (even though the path auto-completes!).
The files appear to be there when I boot to the live CD and have the same permissions as other modules.
Thanks for any advice or help; this is my first time trying out Arch again after several years.
EDIT: couple more pieces of info, if it helps:
- This is a dual-boot situation, with WinXP on /dev/sda1 (primary partition), Arch on /dev/sda5 (logical partition)
- Arch is all on one partition
- The arch partition is formatted jfs
- I tried adding jfs module to the ramdisk, it didn't make any difference
- grub.cfg does have "insmod jfs" as part of the boot sequence
- disk passed a badblocks check

Well, I gave up, blew away the partition and started over with a primary partition using ext4. Worked without a hitch, go figure...

I'm getting the exact same errors as you are on a Lenovo ThinkPad X60s. I'm also trying to use JFS.
