Ibus + Awesome?

Has anyone had any luck getting Ibus working with awesome-git?

I just tried setting it up on a new install and whenever I add an input method (e.g. pinyin or intelligent-pinyin) it is not added to the list of methods. Further, when restarting Ibus, all settings changes are lost.

Running in verbose mode results in error messages along the lines of:

(ibus-dconf:2287): dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: GDBus.Error:org.gtk.GDBus.UnmappedGError.Quark._g_2dfile_2derror_2dquark.Code17: Cannot open dconf database: invalid gvdb header

So it looks like ibus may be trying to use the Gnome configuration system, but is failing so none of the changes are preserved.

Anyone else run into this issue, or have any suggestions for working around it?
