2010 MacBook Pro Express34 Issues

Hi, I recently bought a USB 3.0 ExpressCard (GMYLE® ExpressCard 34mm to USB 3.0 Adapter) from Amazon. However I have not been able to get it to work. It puts out power (charges my Galaxy Nexus), but it won't read USB drives.

I've tried these recommended steps someone posted in the reviews on Amazon:

Linux/Ubuntu instuctions:

1. Add: blacklist uas -> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf (To get card working)
2. Add: pciehp_force=1 pciehp_poll_mode=1 to the /etc/default/grub "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT" section (To get hot swapping to work)
3. Add: usb_storage and acpiphp -> /etc/modules (To get card working)
4. Reboot

No luck. Any ideas? Thanks
